As part of the 2024 Incident Emergency Fund call from the Digital Defenders Partnership (DDP), FUNDEPAZ implemented the “Protecting Cyberactivism’s Voices through Promoting Safer Digital Environments – PROVOISE” project between August and December last year, with the support of HIVOS, an international organization based in the Netherlands and administrator of the DDP program.

The main objective of the project has been to strengthen FUNDEPAZ’s institutional capacities to ensure a safer digital environment, protect sensitive information, and increase resilience in the face of digital and physical threats, particularly given the organization’s human rights work in high-risk contexts.

A thorough security needs assessment was conducted, including individual and group meetings and a detailed questionnaire. Based on this analysis, the project introduced key technological improvements: four desktop computers were purchased (exceeding the original plan of two), an external hard drive was acquired to securely store encrypted data, and a premium five-year cloud hosting plan was secured to ensure long-term data safety and website stability.

The team also participated in three digital security training workshops, featuring conceptual overviews, real-world cases, role-playing exercises, and group analysis. A dedicated physical security training session focused on updating FUNDEPAZ’s institutional Self-Protection Manual.

Through PROVOISE, FUNDEPAZ has significantly enhanced its digital infrastructure, implemented more robust preventive measures, and fostered a culture of security among its team, helping ensure a safer and more stable environment for continuing its work with vulnerable communities.
